Born Annoying was great as usual. I’m really glad they got a really cool reaction from people. Can’t wait to hear the new 7”
Trapped Under Ice was really ignorant as hell. I was pretty terrified for my life and was too much of a weenie to get in the pit. Regardless they fucking killed it! They’ve been growing on me a lot more as of late and I definitely wanna see them again.
Man Overboard was really fun. I actually enjoyed myself this time around during their set. I personally thought they were a lot better than when I saw them in Philly a couple weeks ago.
The Bouncing Souls were incredible. Second time seeing them and THEY PLAYED KIDS AND HEROES AND MANTHEM!! AHHH HOLY FUCK! What I thought what was cool about their holiday show this year was that instead of choosing songs to play based off a bingo raffle like they did last year, they had individual friends of the band write up a set list for them! Apparently tonight CM Punk came up with their set list and he was there hanging out with The Souls and stuff. I tell ya what, CM Punk can sure write a really damn good set list. I totally spotted Justin from Man Overboard in crowd rocking out to the Souls during ‘Kids and Heroes’ props.
After watching an hour of The Souls’ set, I booked it to the Asbury Lanes for the after show featuring The Menzingers and A New Enemy.
The Menzingers were perfect. Song many people singing along. Mad stage dives. The place went nuts. Everybody was dancing and having a lot of fun! Plus, not only did they played ‘Irish Goodbyes,’ they ended their set covering Operation Ivy and Rancid. That was pretty dope. Thought this marked my 3rd time seeing these guys, this was my first time seeing The Menzingers in a cramped more intimate setting. Seeing The Menzingers tonight was totally a highlight of my night.
A New Enemy was the last band I saw on this eventful night. The were an older hardcore band from the shore that was reuniting for the first time in 6 years. Even though I haven’t heard of these guys until a few weeks before the show, a lot of my friends who I’ve met from going to hardcore shows by the shore told me good things about these guys, so I was very interested about checking them out. Standing off to the side, I watched A New Enemy’s set from behind the railings of the stage. So many older dudes were moshing and going nuts. Their set was pretty sick and it was really awesome to see the older hardcore guys reliving their youth by singing along and loose their minds during A New Enemy. It’s always an incredible feeling to see a band live that you’ve held deep in your heart during your younger days. Even though this was my first (and possibly last) time seeing these guys, A New Enemy definitely put such an enthusiastic live show and it was really cool to be a part of such an awesome show.
It’s 3:16 in the morning and I finally just laid down on my bed after getting home about a half hour ago or so. I’m pretty banged up and my wrists feel weird (how the hell did that happen I barely moshed?). On another note: eating tater tots dipped in spicy chili sauce at 1 o clock in the morning wasn’t really such a good idea than I thought it was. I totally should have gotten the sweet potato fries before A New Enemy play.
Tonight ruled! I got to see awesome shows and hung out with a bunch of cool people. Whoever I met tonight, don’t be strangers stay in touch and let’s be friends and stuff.
